The Wuyuan Ancient Village Group is one of the most preserved and intact ancient buildings in China. In recent years, local governments have increased their protection and repairs, and these ancient buildings have also become important tourism resources in the local area.

In order to solve this problem, Wuyuan County explored the "old house storage" mechanism, and the local government unified the transfer and storage of idle old buildings from villagers through the government, and implemented the "village party organization + cultural and tourism enterprise + cooperative + farmers" model.

The transferred old house is repaired by relevant government departments, and the operator will subsequently build and operate it by itself.

It is understood that at present, the use rights of 234 idle old houses in 18 traditional villages in Wuyuan County have been collected and stored. These old houses have also turned into homestays, teahouses, coffee shops, etc., from "old and dilapidated" to the "main force" in the cultural and tourism boom.
