CCTV News: According to the website of the Ministry of Water Resources, recently, it is the peak period of spring irrigation water use, and local areas of the Yellow River Basin have continued to have high temperatures and little rain, and droughts have occurred in different degrees of the Yellow River irrigation areas. The Yellow River Water Conservancy Committee has made careful arrangements and taken multiple measures to do a good job in drought resistance, supply and irrigation protection in the Yellow River irrigation areas, and strive to consolidate the foundation for ensuring food security.
First, plan ahead, actively prepare water sources, and increase the water storage capacity of key reservoirs as much as possible. As of April 28, the five major reservoirs in the main stream of the Yellow River, Longyangxia, Liujiaxia, Wanjiazhai, Sanmenxia and Xiaolangdi, had a total of 28.623 billion cubic meters of water, 281 million cubic meters more than the same period last year.
The second is to strengthen consultation and judgment, and finely arrange key reservoirs. Rolling updates on the development of drought and work dynamics, fully grasp the drought situation in the irrigation areas along the Yellow River, strengthen the analysis of water supply and demand in the basin, strengthen water resource scheduling, and adjust the drainage flow of key reservoirs such as Liujiaxia and Xiaolangdi many times. Since April, the total water diversion flow of the main stream of the Yellow River has increased from about 800 cubic meters per second to more than 1,600 cubic meters per second.
The third is to send a working group in a timely manner to understand the operation of the Yellow River Grid and the water intake guarantee, strengthen contact and communication with local water administration departments and irrigation area management units, fully grasp the irrigation water needs, and provide a decision-making basis for reservoir scheduling. Actively take engineering measures such as dredging before gates, channel excavation, and installation pump station water lifting to improve the water diversion capacity of culverts.
In the next step, the Yellow River Commission will follow the principle of not squandering the farming season and efficient water supply, and do a good job in the water supply supervision and guidance of the Yellow River irrigation areas within its jurisdiction, and make good use of every cubic meter of precious Yellow River water resources.
