According to reports, the Chengdu World Games torch relay activity lasts for one day and is mainly carried out in three cities in Chengdu, Deyang and Meishan in Sichuan Province. The total mileage is 11 kilometers, and a total of 120 torchbearers participated.

On February 27, 2025, the first torch "Bamboo Dream" in the history of the World Games filmed at Tianfu Art Park in Chengdu. Xinhua News Agency issued the Chengdu World Games torch "Bamboo Dream" means "chasing dreams". The torch is taken from the shape of a large bronze standing figure unearthed from Sanxingdui, and it also looks like a proud and upright "bamboo". The appearance of "Bamboo Dream" was released on February 27 this year. The design plan for supporting components of torchs such as braziers and tinder lamps has also been determined. It is expected that batch production and technical testing of torchs and supporting components will be completed in early July.

Wang Fengchao, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Chengdu World Games Organizing Committee and Mayor of Chengdu, said: "The selection of torchbearers for Chengdu World Games was officially launched in March. It mainly selects from four categories: outstanding athletes and coaches, representatives of advanced workers, representatives of citizens, and representatives of international friends. It is appropriate to tilt towards grassroots workers such as couriers, online ride-hailing drivers, and sanitation workers who work hard on the front line. The selection is expected to be completed in June."

On February 27, Huang Zhang Jiayang (left), the collective all-round gold medalist at the Paris Olympic Games Rhythm Gymnastics event, showed the first torch "Bamboo Dream" in the history of the World Games at the launch event. Xinhua News Agency issued a torch relay point, Wang Fengchao said that the organizing committee plans to hold a fire collection and torch relay launch ceremony at the Sanxingdui Museum, and then pass it in sections at the Jinsha Ruins Museum, Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, Wuhou Temple, Sansu Temple, Xinglong Lake Wetland Park and other points. At present, the route planning and on-site survey work have been fully launched.

The World Games is a large-scale international comprehensive sports event mainly based on non-Olympic events. The 12th World Games will be held in Chengdu, Sichuan from August 7 to 17 this year. This is the second time that the western region of China has hosted international comprehensive sports events after the successful holding of the 2023 Chengdu Universiade.
