CCTV News: On May 1, the newly revised "Beijing Fire Protection Regulations" will be officially implemented. For electric bicycles, the "Regulations" clarify for the first time that it is prohibited to carry electric bicycles and rechargeable batteries into the elevator car. Individuals who violate the regulations may be fined up to 1,000 yuan. In recent years, accidents caused by electric bicycle fires have occurred frequently, but how to effectively deal with this problem and reduce the occurrence of tragedies?

Data shows that in 90% of electric bicycle fires, electric bicycles are parked in foyer, aisle and other locations. Everyone hates the danger of electric bicycles entering the building, but often they can only retreat and avoid it.
In addition to being helpless to avoid it, some people will report it to the property or the street, but most of the time the property and the street can do is just to dissuade them.
Dialing directly to the police is also a choice for many residents. It is indeed very effective, but often the police are just walking on the front and the electric bicycle on the back is secretly pushed upstairs.
So, what are the legal provisions for such behavior?

In 2021, the Ministry of Emergency Management issued the "Regulations on Fire Safety Management of High-rise Civil Buildings", of which Article 37 clearly stipulates that it is prohibited to park electric bicycles or charge electric bicycles in public halls, evacuation walkways, stairwells, and safety exits of high-rise civil buildings. If charging in these areas is refused to correct the correction, the fire rescue agency shall order the correction and impose a fine of not less than RMB 2,000 and not more than RMB 10,000 on the commercial units and individuals, and a fine of not less than RMB 500 and not more than RMB 1,000 on the non-operating units and individuals.
