CCTV News: On April 29, the State Information Office held a press conference to introduce the preparations for the Chengdu World Games.

Li Jing, vice chairman of the Chengdu World Games Organizing Committee and deputy director of the General Administration of Sports of China, introduced at the meeting that the Chengdu World Games has 34 major events, 60 sub-items and 255 sub-items. The General Administration of Sports, together with Sichuan Province and Chengdu, insists on implementing the "green, shared, open and honest" competition hosting concept and the "simple, safe and exciting" competition hosting requirements in the entire process of preparation. At present, the layout of the venue has been determined. 27 venues host the competitions, 21 venue competition teams have been formed, and business backbones with strong professional capabilities and rich experience in organizing the competition have been selected to participate in the venue operation. The competition unit schedule has also been basically determined, and softball and soft hockey events will start the day before the opening ceremony.

According to reports, relying on domestic and foreign competitions, 25 test activities have been organized and implemented, effectively inspecting equipment and facilities, organizational operation, timing scores, local support, command and dispatch, laying a solid foundation for the smooth operation during the competition.

The Chinese sports delegation will play for all its strength in this event. The General Administration of Sports is orderly promoting delegation groups. It has now qualified for 28 major events and 152 minor events. It is expected that about 330 athletes will participate. This will be the most popular and most participants in the World Games since the Chinese sports delegation participated in the World Games.

Li Jing pointed out that the slogan of the Chengdu World Games is "unlimited movement and endless weather." This will be fully reflected in athletes of the Chinese sports delegation. They have a wide range of sources, diverse identities and are full of vitality. They include professional athletes from the sports system, outstanding representatives emerging from domestic colleges, enterprises, institutions and social sports clubs, as well as disabled athletes from free diving, Jiu-jitsu and archery events selected by the China Disabled Persons' Federation. They will compete fairly with athletes from all over the world on the court and communicate friendlyly off the court, fully demonstrate the development achievements of my country's sports industry, especially non-Australia events, and show the style of Chinese sports athletes. The General Administration of Sports and the China Disabled Persons' Federation will do a good job in the service and guarantee of the preparation stage of the Chinese sports delegation, strive for excellent results, and achieve the goal of participating in the competition with both athletic achievements and spiritual civilization.
