CCTV News: Recently, Chinese citizens in Tanzania have been robbed frequently; criminals pretended to be WhatsApp software operators to steal social accounts and engage in fraudulent activities; foreign exchange frauds are frequent; some Chinese citizens were detained for not cooperating with Tanzania's law enforcement agencies for inspection. The Chinese Embassy in Tanzania reminds Chinese-funded enterprises, institutions and Chinese citizens in Tanzania to remain vigilant, strengthen security precautions, consciously abide by Tanzania's laws and regulations, and take practical measures to protect themselves and their property safety.

First, improve safety awareness. Before traveling, inform your relatives and friends of the specific itinerary, properly keep important ID documents and property, and keep photos and copies of important information such as passports, visas, air tickets, insurance policies, etc. Pay attention to the surrounding environment, try to travel together at night, avoid carrying large amounts of cash, beware of motorcycles whose license plates are blocked, and prevent speeding parties from snatching their mobile phones and wallets.

The second is to beware of all kinds of fraud. Do not open unknown links in social software, text messages, or emails, and do not provide the account verification code to others. Don’t believe in “high-priced foreign exchange collection” and exchange foreign exchange through formal and legal channels such as banks to ensure the safety of personal property.

The third is to avoid engaging in activities that do not match the type of visa. The Tanzanian immigration department announced that a document inspection will be carried out on foreigners in Tanzania from September 11 to October 8. After entering the country with a tourist visa, you should avoid going to places such as factories and mining areas that are not related to tourism. If you need to engage in non-tourism activities such as business, trade, and work, be sure to apply for a corresponding visa from the Tanzania immigration department, update the expiration certificate in a timely manner and keep the application record. If the Tanzania immigration department inspects, it should actively cooperate.
