CCTV News: Reporters learned from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology that in the first two months of this year, the total volume of telecommunications services maintained growth, the construction of network infrastructure such as 5G and Gigabit optical networks was progressing in an orderly manner, the number of connected users continued to expand, and mobile Internet access traffic continued to grow rapidly.

Data show that in the first two months of 2026, telecom business revenue accumulated to 290.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.7%; the total telecom business volume calculated at constant prices last year increased by 8.4% year-on-year. In the first two months, the growth rate of mobile Internet traffic continued to increase, with cumulative traffic reaching 66.67 billion GB, a year-on-year increase of 20.4%.

Since this year, the scale of 5G and Gigabit users has continued to expand. As of the end of February, there were 1.235 billion 5G mobile phone users, accounting for 67.6% of mobile phone users. The total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecommunications companies reached 694 million. Among them, there are 245 million fixed Internet broadband access users with access rates of 1,000Mbps and above, accounting for 35.3% of the total number of users. 5G network construction is advancing steadily. As of the end of February, the total number of 5G base stations reached 4.909 million.
