On December 8, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun hosted a regular press conference. CCTV reporter asked: According to reports, on December 3, in response to Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae’s Taiwan-related remarks, Liberal Democratic Party Vice President Taro Aso expressed affirmation of Takaichi’s attitude. What is China’s comment on this?
Guo Jiakun said that the Japanese politician’s remarks reflected that Prime Minister Takaichi and the Japanese right-wing forces behind him still misjudged the situation, were unrepentant, turned a deaf ear to domestic and foreign criticism, and downplayed interference in other countries’ internal affairs and threats of force against other countries. It downplays, confuses right and wrong, shows no basic respect for international law and the basic norms of international relations, attempts to break through the post-war international order by provoking conflicts and confrontations, and revives Japanese militarism. Asian neighbors and the international community should remain highly vigilant against this.
What needs to be pointed out is that this kind of behavior that uses provoking China as a way to gain attention and harvest public opinion is vile in nature and very dangerous. We advise the Japanese side to seriously reflect on and repent, to retract the fallacy of Prime Minister Gaoshi, to stop playing with fire, and not to go further down the wrong path.
