Xinhua News Agency, Macau, May 9 (Reporters Qi Fei and Liu Gang) The Public Security Police Department of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government introduced on the 9th that at 3 a.m. that day, the inbound and outbound passenger flow of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge exceeded 10 million this year. According to statistics, the average daily customs clearance volume of the port this year reached 78,000, an increase of 11.1% from the same period last year, and 13 days ahead of the time when the customs clearance volume of tens of millions last year. The increasing frequency of personnel exchanges shows that the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge effectively promotes the integrated development of urban clusters in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
From the customs clearance distribution, the passenger flow of Hong Kong and Macao halls, Zhuhai and Macao halls and lanes accounted for 50.5%, 15% and 34.5% respectively. In terms of customs clearance personnel structure, Macau residents account for 32.3%, foreign employees account for 2.5%, mainland tourists account for 28.9%, Hong Kong tourists account for 28.3%, Taiwan people account for 0.5%, and foreign tourists account for 7.1%. It is worth noting that the proportion of foreign tourists inspected and released at this port ranks first among all ports in Macau, reaching 35.9%.
At present, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has become an important transportation hub in the Greater Bay Area, and the flow of people and vehicles at its Macau port continues to rise. In order to ensure the safety and smooth ports, the Public Security Police Department continues to maintain close communication with the Macau Customs, Zhuhai Border Inspection General Station and the Hong Kong Immigration Office and strengthen linkage and cooperation. In addition, in order to meet the long-term development needs of the port, the Public Security Police Department added two new inbound lanes last year and added a personnel inspection and release hall on the outbound and inbound lanes to effectively improve the customs clearance efficiency of passenger lanes.
The Public Security Police Department stated that in the future, it will continue to expand self-service customs clearance services for foreign tourists, Hong Kong residents and other people, and will work with other relevant departments to continuously optimize the customs clearance environment and facilities at the port, as well as to create convenient customs clearance measures to welcome passengers from the Greater Bay Area and around the world with better services.
