The Pearl River Water Conservancy Committee of the Ministry of Water Resources: The drought in Yunnan and Guangxi has been alleviated

The reporter learned from the Pearl River Water Conservancy Committee of the Ministry of Water Resources that there has been significant rainfall in the Pearl River Basin in the near future, which will alleviate the drought in Yunnan, Guangxi and other places.

Since November 2024, the Pearl River Basin has experienced a "sharp and rapid reversal". As of late April 2025, the average rainfall in the Xijiang Basin was 140 mm, 60% less than the same period last year. There have been droughts of varying degrees in Yunnan, Guangxi and other places.

Recently, the Pearl River Commission coordinated and dispatched the Tianshengqiao first-level and Longtan reservoirs to continuously replenish water, effectively ensuring the spring irrigation water of nearly 1.28 million mu of arable land in the water diversion irrigation area of the Guizhong Drought Treatment Letan Reservoir; at the same time, the water level of the Datengxia Reservoir is dynamically controlled to meet the drinking water and spring irrigation water needs of urban and rural people in the reservoir area.

Yunnan has deeply promoted the "five actions" including underground water search, water demand from the sky, water diversion in mountain springs, emergency water diversion, and water conservation for all people, ensuring the drinking water safety of 1.702 million people, and timely adjusting the agricultural industrial structure, and making every effort to ensure the water needs for irrigation.

Guangxi actively takes measures such as drilling wells, pulling water to deliver water, and expanding the network of water supply projects to ensure the people's drinking water needs. The cumulative water supply of 276 large and medium-sized irrigation areas in the district is 1.24 billion cubic meters, and the irrigation area reaches 8.16 million mu.

Since April 19, four rainfalls have occurred in the Pearl River Basin, which has alleviated the drought in Liuzhou, Hechi and other places in Guangxi to a certain extent. According to analysis and judgment, there is still obvious rainfall in the basin in the near future, which will further alleviate the drought in Guangxi and other places.
