CCTV News: Wujiaqu City, Xinjiang is an important cotton planting base in northern Xinjiang. Due to the low local temperature and thick snow in the cotton fields, here it has begun to "break the snow" to prepare for ploughing.

In Xinhu Farm, Fangcaohu Farm and other places in Wujiaqu City, Xinjiang, the farmland is still covered with white areas. The local area organizes large machinery to help farmers carry out snow-breaking operations to ensure the smooth progress of cotton sowing.

Li Chun, an agricultural technician in Wujiaqu City, Xinjiang, said: "The first benefit of this snowbreak is the alternation of freezing and thawing, which can sow early. The second benefit is the ability to improve the quality of sowing."

At the mechanical snowbreaking site, a high-power tractor carried a heavy-duty notch rake to plough the land back and forth on the snow field. The snow was evenly broken and mixed with the soil that was turned out to speed up the melting of the snow, which could advance the cotton seeding time by about 15 days. At the same time, it can also destroy the living environment of overwintering insect pupa in the surface soil, improve land moisture, and lay the foundation for a bumper cotton yield and harvest. This year, a total of 136,000 mu of farmland in Wujiaqu City, Xinjiang needs to be broken. Most of the time has been completed. The cotton sowing time can be advanced from March 25 to March 10.
