CCTV News: Shanshiping Village is located in the deep mountains of Eryuan County, Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It was once a concentrated treatment area for leprosy patients and has little contact with the outside world. In order to change the appearance of the village, the country has sent a batch of medical personnel over the years, including Li Guike, 68 years old this year. From youth to gray hair, he has been in the mountains for more than 40 years. Today, we will get to know him together as the "national advanced individual retired cadres".

When the reporter met Li Guike, he had just returned from a business trip in Beijing. Without having to rest, Li Guike crossed Luoping Mountain overnight and returned to Shanshiping Village. These days, the ones he cares about the most are these old people.

After visiting the elderly one by one, it was already early in the morning. Without resting for a few hours, Li Guike started to be busy in the village again. How are the tourist trails laid? Is the food in the Happy Cafeteria good? Li Guike had to go and see it little by little.
Li Guike: After being with them for so many years, we have a deep relationship. They cannot live without me, and I cannot live without them. This is my home and a part of my life.
Today, Li Guike has integrated into this small village deep in the mountains. In 1981, when I first started working here, it was a relatively closed leprosy sanitary home.
Ou Hanmei, a villager from Shanshiping Village Group: Dr. Li came here and said that he came to help us. He must cure our illness. If he doesn't cure his illness, he will not leave.
With the unremitting efforts of Li Guike and his colleagues, in 1990, all the patients in Shanshiping Sanatorium were cured, but Li Guike did not leave. He chose to stay here and embarked on a long road to curing heart and poverty for the recovered people.
Song Wenhong, a villager from Shanshiping Village Group: Dr. Li runs a school in our village, allowing our children to go out of the mountains, and leads us to dig roads, build bridges, and power, and takes us to Beijing and Shanghai for travel. Life is very happy.

In 2017, Li Guike retired. He should have enjoyed his happiness and applied to the organization to continue to stay in Shanshiping Village. In order to facilitate the villagers' travel, after retirement, he also took the driver's license and bought a car.
Li Guike: It takes 5 hours to travel back and forth from Shanshiping Village to the county town, and it is also a mountain road, which is very inconvenient. Now that I can buy a car, it is very convenient. It is also very convenient to bring the elderly’s food, especially when I am sick, to the county town for medical treatment.

Now, Li Guike still eats, lives and works with leprosy recovered people, providing rehabilitation and treatment services to the elderly, just like he did 44 years ago.
Yang Xiaoyuan, leader of the Shanshiping Village Group: Dr. Li is most concerned about us villagers in his life. He dedicated his life to all the people in our Shanshiping Village.
Li Guike: As long as I can move and walk, I will do my best and contribute to build Shanshiping Village into a place for health care, education, and tourism. We must make the people in Shanshiping Village feel happier and have a happier life.
