CCTV News: The State Council Information Office held a series of theme press conferences on "Complete the 14th Five-Year Plan with high quality" on July 17, introducing the new progress and new achievements in the construction of a strong intellectual property country during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, and answering reporters' questions.
Shen Changyu, director of the State Intellectual Property Administration, said that in the first half of the year, my country's intellectual property industry has made steady progress and improved quality, and the trend of high-quality development has become more prominent. The relevant indicator data performed well, laying a solid foundation for the successful conclusion of the "14th Five-Year Plan".
Intellectual property reserves have grown steadily. As of June this year, the effective amount of domestic invention patents reached 5.01 million, an increase of 13.2% year-on-year, and the number of high-value invention patents owned by each 10,000 population reached 15.3, setting a new record. The effective number of domestic registered trademarks reached 48.959 million, an increase of 6.6% year-on-year. On average, every 4 business entities own one registered trademark. A total of 2,861 geographical indication products have been recognized, 7,424 geographical indications have been registered as collective trademarks and certified trademarks, and more than 37,000 business entities have used special geographical indications. In the first half of the year, the PCT international patent and the Hague system design applications submitted by domestic applicants increased by 12.7% and 23.2% year-on-year respectively, and more domestic companies are accelerating the layout of overseas intellectual property rights.
The position of enterprises in technological innovation continues to improve. There are 524,000 enterprises in China that have valid invention patents, and the number of valid invention patents has reached 3.727 million, accounting for 74.4% of the total domestic valid invention patents, an increase of 6.1 percentage points from the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan. This is highly consistent with the proportion of my country's R&D investment of enterprises accounting for 3/4 of the total R&D investment of the whole society, indicating that the company's innovation capabilities are constantly increasing and becoming the main battlefield for the output of new technologies.
The craze of technological innovation in the digital and medical fields is rising. According to statistics on the technical fields divided by the World Intellectual Property Organization, the top three areas in my country's domestic effective invention patent growth rate are information technology management methods, computer technology and medical technology, which increased by 34.1%, 22.7% and 19.8% year-on-year, far higher than the average growth rate of domestic effective invention patents. The rapid growth of invention patents for digital technology and medical technology effectively empowers the digital transformation of the industry and brings welfare to people's lives and health.
The business environment for intellectual property rights is constantly being optimized. In the first half of the year, foreign applicants submitted 94,000 trademark registration applications in my country, an increase of 7.4% year-on-year. Among them, trademark applications in Germany, Italy and the United States in China grew rapidly, all of which increased by more than 20% year-on-year. In addition, in the first half of the year, the State Intellectual Property Office also accepted applications for protection of geographical indication products in 74 French Burgundy production areas. All these fully demonstrate that by treating the intellectual property rights of domestic and foreign companies equally and protecting them, a good business environment has been created for foreign companies to invest and do business in China.
