The bus No. 20 is slowly stopping, and the noise of the vehicle is almost impossible to hear. Passengers who had just purchased from Chongsaikang Market got on the bus in an orderly manner. The sunset shone through the windows, and the interior of the car was clean and tidy.

Since 2019, Lhasa has given priority to the development of urban public transportation and vigorously promoted the new energy in the field of public transportation. "As of now, there are 43 urban bus lines in the city, with a total length of 975.6 kilometers and 559 vehicles operating, and 100% new energy buses have been achieved." said Barrow, director of the Lhasa Road Transport Administration Bureau.

"New energy buses are comfortable to drive and stable to ride, and more importantly, they are low-carbon and environmentally friendly." Bus driver Tashi Rob sighed. With 14 years of driving experience, he has experienced changes from diesel-driven to new energy vehicles, from manual ticket sales to mobile payments.

While achieving greening of the bus backbone network, Lhasa also turned its attention to the "capillaries" of urban transportation.

"Now with micro buses, it is much more convenient to travel." Zhuoma, a citizen living in Gama Gongsang Street, said, "The street is narrow, and it is difficult to turn large buses. In the past, it is often missed. Now there is a mini bus in about ten minutes, which is very worry-free."

She, 73 years old this year, takes buses to Zongjiao Lukang Park to dance in Guozhuang. "My grandson told me that this is called "green travel", which is both convenient and environmentally friendly." Zhuoma said with a smile.

It is understood that Lhasa opened its first micro-circulation bus route on April 30, 2024. Up to now, 5 microcirculation lines have been operated and 30 buses are equipped.

"The microcirculation line effectively covers narrow streets and residential areas in the city, which not only alleviates urban road traffic congestion, but also effectively solves the problem of "last mile" travel for the people." said Bianba Tseren, a staff member of the network center of Lhasa Bus Operation Co., Ltd.

On the streets of Lhasa, you can get a new energy taxi in minutes. "New energy taxis have a large space, it is comfortable to sit, and there is no black smoke and dust discharge at the rear of the car." Citizen Yangzong highly recognizes the environmental protection of the vehicle.

On July 11 this year, the first batch of 320 battery-swap new energy taxis in Lhasa City were officially delivered. The new energy taxi put into operation this time adopts battery swap technology, which takes only 3 minutes to replace the battery for a single time, and the battery pack is equipped with a range of more than 500 kilometers. It supports a variety of energy replenishment modes to meet the energy replenishment needs in different scenarios.

"Since driving a new energy taxi, the operating costs have been reduced." Driver Zhaxi said that the company has also coordinated commonly used charging points, which is convenient and cost-effective.

Statistics from the Lhasa Municipal Transportation Bureau show that as of now, there are 7,410 taxis in Lhasa (including cruising taxis and online car-hailing) in Lhasa, of which 5,720 new energy taxis are available.

In order to meet people's diverse travel needs, Lhasa City has added the deployment of shared electric vehicles in addition to buses and taxis to provide convenience for short-distance travel.

"The most likely traffic jam around the school. I basically ride an electric bike when I pick up and drop off my children." Lhasa citizen Ram said, "It takes 20 minutes to drive, and only 5 minutes to ride an electric bike, which ensures that children arrive at school on time."

In addition, more and more people choose to commute by bicycle. Mr. Zhang, a citizen born in the 2000s, said: "Every day, I sit at my desk, and it's not only convenient to get to and from get off work, but also to exercise." Sometimes he would ask friends to ride a bicycle to the surrounding area of Lhasa.

As Lhasa City continues to build a green and low-carbon transportation system, new energy buses, taxis and electric vehicles shuttle through the streets and alleys of Lhasa. Through daily travel, people protect the plateau ecology with the concept of green travel and low-carbon environmental protection. (Reporter Jiang Mengchen)
