On August 8, Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke with Russian President Putin on the phone at the invitation.
Putin introduced Russia's views on the current situation of the Ukrainian crisis and the recent contacts and communications between Russia and the United States, and expressed that Russia highly appreciates China's constructive role in political resolution of the crisis. The comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between Russia and China will not change under any circumstances, and Russia is willing to continue to maintain close communication with China. Xi Jinping elaborated on China's principled position and pointed out that there is no simple solution to complex problems. No matter how the situation changes, China will adhere to its consistent position and insist on persuading peace and promoting talks. China is happy to see Russia and the United States maintain contact, improve relations with each other, and promote the political resolution of the Ukrainian crisis.
The two heads of state positively evaluated China and Russia's high-level political mutual trust and strategic cooperation, and agreed to jointly promote greater development of bilateral relations. The two sides will work together to prepare for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Tianjin Summit, host a friendly, united and fruitful summit, and promote the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to achieve high-quality development.
