China issued a notice on July 6, deciding to take relevant measures on some medical devices imported from the EU during government procurement activities. What is the Ministry of Commerce’s comment on this?

A: The European Commission issued measures on June 20, 2025 to restrict Chinese companies and products from participating in their medical device public procurement and continue to set barriers for Chinese companies in the field of public procurement. China has repeatedly expressed through bilateral dialogues that it is willing to properly punish differences with the European side through dialogue and consultation and bilateral government procurement arrangements. Regrettably, despite the goodwill and sincerity released by China, the European side has been committed to taking restrictive measures to build new protectionist barriers. Therefore, China has to take reciprocal restrictive measures. The relevant measures are to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and maintain a fair competition environment. China's measures are only aimed at medical device products imported from the EU, and the production of European-funded enterprises in China will not be affected.
