On October 28, President Xi Jinping and Finnish President Stubb exchanged congratulatory messages to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Xi Jinping pointed out that Finland is a beautiful "land of a thousand lakes" and one of the first European countries to sign an intergovernmental trade agreement with China. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Finland 75 years ago, bilateral relations have transcended social systems and ideologies, and have withstood the test of international vicissitudes. Cooperation in politics, economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural exchanges has continued to deepen. Last October, President Stubb successfully paid a state visit to China, and we jointly drew a blueprint for the development of a new future-oriented cooperative partnership between China and Finland. I attach great importance to the development of China-Finland relations and am willing to work with President Stubb to inherit and carry forward the tradition of friendship between the two countries, lead China-Finland cooperation in various fields to create a new situation, and jointly promote an equal and orderly multi-polar world and an economic globalization that benefits everyone.
Stubb said that the relationship between Finland and China is close and has a solid foundation. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 75 years ago, bilateral relations have developed steadily and cooperation has been continuously expanded. In October last year, I paid my first state visit to China, and the two sides issued the "Joint Work Plan on Promoting a New Future-Oriented Cooperative Partnership between Finland and China (2025-2029)." The international community trusts China in its role as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. I look forward to continuing our dialogue with President Xi Jinping on bilateral and global issues.
