The report shows that the total output value of the national forest and grass industry will reach 10.496 trillion yuan in 2024, forming four pillar industries with an output value of over one trillion yuan, including wood processing, economic forest, forest tourism, and understory economy. More than 60 million people are directly employed in the forest and grass industry. More than 60% of the income of farmers in key forestry counties comes from the forest and grass industry, which has become a "green engine" to stimulate the overall vitality of rural revitalization and achieve common prosperity.

The report also pointed out that the development foundation of the forest and grass industry is still weak, most resources have not been effectively developed and utilized, and the output per unit area is low. On the premise of ensuring ecological security, how to ensure and promote the transformation, upgrading and high-quality development of the forest and grass industry in accordance with the law?

In order to further improve the quality and efficiency of the forestry and grassland industry, the report recommends that strengthening the forestry and grassland industry be a national strategic task and build a modern forestry and grassland industry system based on the cultivation and utilization of forestry and grassland resources, covering the entire industry chain including the production and marketing of forestry and grassland products, eco-tourism, forest health care, natural education, and social services; actively cultivate new green productivity of forestry and grassland, support technological innovation of forestry and grassland, and solve key technical problems in the synergistic improvement of forest ecological functions and the role of the "four reservoirs".

In terms of establishing and improving the forest and grass industry support policy system, the report proposes to increase support for the construction of forest infrastructure and industrial bases through central budgetary investment and other relevant channels; actively cultivate forest fungi, forest medicines, flowers and seedlings and other industries that enrich the people; give full play to the role of green financial tools and encourage financial institutions to provide credit support in accordance with laws and regulations.
