On May 15, the country's largest photovoltaic LNG ship "Yuanhaikou" ship was named and delivered at the Nansha Port in Guangzhou, and its world's forefront voyage was set off from Guangzhou Port. The Yuanhaikou ship loaded nearly 4,000 domestic cars this time, most of which were new energy vehicles. These vehicles will depart from Guangzhou Port and head to Greece, Spain, Tunisia, Türkiye and other countries.
Du Xiaotian, deputy general manager of a certain automobile ship transportation company in Guangzhou, introduced that according to the needs of Chinese automobile manufacturers, they have opened liner routes from China to the Persian Gulf, Europe, the Mediterranean, South America, western and eastern (af) South Africa. 68,000 vehicles were transported from January to April 2025, an increase of 110% year-on-year from 2024.
The relevant person in charge of Guangzhou Port said that in 2025, 7 new overseas ports will be connected, namely the Port of Santiago, Chile, Victoria Port in Brazil, and Akbar Port in Jordan. From January to April 2025, Guangzhou Port has completed exports of more than 160,000 domestically produced vehicles, an increase of 13.6% year-on-year.
In order to ensure the smooth customs clearance of exported cars, Nansha Customs has smoothed the entire process of automobile export supervision, and adopted an efficient supervision method of "cars arrive, people arrive, and people arrive," and "ships arrive, people arrive, and people arrive," and inspections are carried out immediately. Export cars are inspected and released within 1 hour after they arrive at the port.
Lin Mujun, deputy director of Nansha Customs, introduced that especially since April, he has been busy every day. In the first four months of 2025, Guangzhou Nansha Customs supervised 106 foreign trade roll-ro ships and regulated 164,000 exported vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 50%, continuing to maintain a strong growth momentum.
According to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, from January to April 2025, a total of 1.937 million vehicles were exported, a year-on-year increase of 6%. Among them, 642,000 new energy vehicles were exported, an increase of 52.6% year-on-year. New energy vehicles continue to maintain a strong export momentum and become the main source of power to drive my country's automobile exports. Therefore, the automobile and ship transportation team may continue to expand.
