CCTV News: According to the official account of "Zunyi Trial", on May 8, the Zunyi Intermediate People's Court of Guizhou Province publicly pronounced the first instance bribery case of Song Yufeng, former chairman of the Social Construction Committee of Guizhou Provincial People's Congress. The defendant Song Yufeng was sentenced to 11,4 months in prison for accepting bribes and fined RMB 1 million; the property and interest obtained by the defendant Song Yufeng's crime of accepting bribes will be recovered in accordance with the law and handed over to the state treasury.
After trial, it was found that from 2009 to 2023, the defendant Song Yufeng used his position as the former president of Guiyang Medical College, former secretary of the Party Leadership Group and director of the Guizhou Provincial Health Department, former director of the Guizhou Provincial Food and Drug Administration, director of the Guizhou Provincial Medical Insurance Bureau, deputy chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Guizhou Provincial People's Congress, and chairman of the Social Construction Committee to provide assistance to relevant units and individuals in matters such as company operations, project contracting, and fund allocation. The illegal acceptance of property totaled more than RMB 26.21 million, some of which were not actually obtained.
The Zunyi Intermediate People's Court held that the defendant Song Yufeng's behavior constituted the crime of accepting bribes, and the amount of bribes was particularly huge and should be punished according to law. Given that Song Yufeng had attempted circumstances in the crime of accepting bribes, he truthfully confessed his crime after being arrested, took the initiative to confess some of the criminal facts that the case handler had not yet grasped, pleaded guilty and repented, actively returned the stolen goods, and had statutory and discretionary circumstances for lenient punishment, and he could be given a lenient punishment according to law. The court then made the above judgment.
After the verdict was announced, the defendant Song Yufeng expressed his acceptance of the verdict in court and did not appeal.
