In the early morning of November 28th, Beijing time, Hull, Sweden The Table Tennis World Youth Championship held in Xinbao ended the competition for the two mixed doubles events. The two pairs of Chinese teenagers performed well and both defeated the Korean pair 3-1 to win the double championship. Beijing team rookie Huang Youzheng and U15 group members Li Hechen and Yao Ruixuan once again won the gold medal in this competition after the team competition.
This World Youth Championship is divided into two categories: U19 and U15, with seven individual events: men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, men's and women's teams, and mixed doubles. In the U19 mixed doubles competition, 19-year-old Huang Youzheng and 18-year-old Zong Geman made it all the way to the finals. The two won a WTT branch championship in September and participated in regular challenges together. They are currently ranked 86th in the world in the adult category. In this summer's Asian Youth Championship, Zong Geman also won the championship with Chen Junsong.
In the final, Huang Youzheng/Zong Geman faced the strong South Korean combination Wu Juncheng/Park Jiaxian. The Korean pair swept another pair of national table tennis players Wen Ruibo/Qin Yuxuan in the quarter-finals, and defeated the Japanese pair Yoshiyama Ryoichi/Mate Rin in the semi-finals, showing their strong strength. Wu Rongcheng is the son of the famous Wu Shangyin. He is currently ranked 29th in the world in singles. He eliminated the main national table tennis player Wang Chuqin in this year's Asian Championships and has gradually become an important opponent of China. His mixed doubles partner Tian Zhixi has also reached the semi-finals of the Star Challenge, and Park Jiaxian's world ranking in the women's singles adult group is also within 100.
Facing a strong opponent, the Chinese team was passive at the beginning. When leading 4-2, their opponent scored 7 points in a row and lost the first game 8-11. However, the two men rallied and took the lead again in the second game. Although the Korean combination once took the lead at the end of the game, Huang Youzheng/Zong Geman seized the key points and narrowly won 11-9 to equalize the score. In the U15 Mixed Doubles final, No. 2 seeds Li Hechen/Yao Ruixuan also defeated Li Chengzhu/Cui Ruiyan 3-1, losing only one game in four games and reaching the top spot. After the game, Yao Ruixuan concluded that although this mixed doubles trip had some ups and downs, the results were satisfactory. Both Chinese teenagers humbly said that the other played better.
