CCTV News: According to the WeChat public account of the "Chinese Embassy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo", in order to further enhance the safety awareness of Chinese-funded enterprises and overseas Chinese in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and effectively protect the personal safety of Chinese citizens in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Embassy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo held a special video conference on the safety of the artisanal mining industry on February 5. More than 30 people including heads of overseas Chinese groups, chambers of commerce and business representatives in Congo attended the meeting.
Entrusted by Ambassador Zhao Bin, Counselor Luo Gang briefed the participants on the current security situation in the artisanal mining industry in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the potential risks faced by Chinese-funded enterprises and employees. He solemnly reminded Chinese-funded enterprises and Chinese citizens in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to strictly abide by local laws and not participate in illegal mining (gold) activities, strengthen solidarity and mutual assistance, and avoid vicious competition. At the same time, enterprises, chambers of commerce and individuals in Congo are required to pay close attention to the security situation and improve their ability to prevent security risks.
Participating representatives thanked the embassy for its briefing and made a commitment to operate in compliance with laws and regulations and not to participate in illegal mining (gold) activities.
