Today (15th), the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially announced my country’s first batch of L3-level conditional autonomous driving vehicle access permits. Two models adapted to urban congestion and highway sections will be piloted on the road in designated areas in Beijing and Chongqing, marking a key step for my country’s L3-level autonomous driving to move from the testing stage to commercial application.
The reporter learned that the two models announced this time come from two automobile manufacturers, one in the south and one in the north.
The pure electric sedan produced by this automobile company in Chongqing can realize the automatic driving function at a maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour in the single lane of highways and urban expressways in traffic congestion environments. Currently, this function is only enabled on relevant road sections in Chongqing.

According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in the next step, the two models will be piloted on the road in the above-mentioned areas by two users, Chongqing and Beijing. Relevant departments will strengthen vehicle operation monitoring and safety guarantees, continuously improve the access management and standard regulations system for intelligent connected vehicles, and promote the high-quality development of my country's intelligent connected new energy vehicle industry.
