The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council responded to the US arms sales to Taiwan: urging the US to handle the Taiwan issue with caution and prudence
2025-11-15 source:CCTV News

On November 14, Chen Binhua, spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, answered reporters’ questions.

Q: The U.S. Department of Defense announced an arms sales project worth approximately US$330 million to Taiwan, China. The DPP authorities immediately expressed their gratitude. Any comments on this?

A: We are firmly opposed to the United States selling arms to Taiwan, China. This position is consistent and clear. This move by the United States has seriously damaged China's sovereignty and security interests and sent a seriously wrong signal to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces. The U.S. is urged to abide by the one-China principle and the three Sino-U.S. joint communiqués, especially the "August 17th" communiqué, stop condoning and supporting "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, and handle the Taiwan issue with caution and prudence.

"Taiwan independence" and peace across the Taiwan Strait are incompatible. Since the Lai Ching-te administration came to power, it has continuously flattered and lost faith in foreign affairs, resorted to militarism, and squandered the hard-earned money of the Taiwanese people, turning Taiwan into a "powder keg" and sacrificing the safety and well-being of the Taiwanese people. I am warning the Lai Qingde authorities that "relying on external forces to seek independence" and "using force to seek independence" are seeking a dead end. We will take all necessary measures to firmly safeguard national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
