On August 29, Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, answered questions from reporters.
Q: On September 3, the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War will be grandly held in Beijing. Some people from the DPP authorities threatened that those who had served as government officials in the Kuomintang would have risks in participating in relevant activities in mainland China, and they would investigate and deal with the targeted figures. What are your comments on this?
Answer: The victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan is the victory of the entire nation and an important part of the victory of the world anti-fascist war. In order to national liberation and Taiwan’s liberation and defeat the Japanese fascism, all Chinese people, including Taiwanese compatriots, made great sacrifices and important contributions to this. Representatives from all walks of life in Taiwan came to Beijing to participate in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan. This is an embodiment of upholding national justice and upholding justice and conscience. It is upright and unreproachable. It is conducive to compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to remember history, commemorate the martyrs, carry forward the great spirit of the War of Resistance, and jointly commit to the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The DPP authorities are facing a great enemy, obstructing, threatening and intimidating, completely losing their national stance, betraying justice and conscience, seriously violating the wishes of compatriots on both sides of the strait, seriously hurting the feelings of compatriots on both sides of the strait, fully exposing their "Taiwan independence" nature, being despicable and filthy, and despicable. We will hold people accountable in accordance with the law and resolutely crack down on the public clamor of the DPP authorities and willing to be a thug and accomplice of "Taiwan independence".
