CCTV News: According to the WeChat official account of the China Earthquake Administration, according to the official measurement of the China Earthquake Network, a magnitude 5.5 earthquake occurred in Lazi County, Shigatse City, Tibet at 5:11 on May 12, 2025 (28.91 degrees north latitude, 87.54 degrees east longitude), with a depth of 10 kilometers.

After the earthquake, the China Earthquake Administration quickly launched a magnitude 4 emergency service response, dispatched the China Earthquake Network Center and the Tibet Autonomous Region Earthquake Bureau to carry out emergency response work, and required relevant units to conduct joint consultations, strengthen earthquake monitoring and post-earth trend analysis, and report relevant situations in a timely manner. At present, the Tibet Autonomous Region Earthquake Bureau has sent a field working group to rush to the earthquake zone to assist local governments in carrying out emergency response work.

It is understood that there are no reports of casualties in this earthquake.
