Vice Minister of Commerce Sheng Qiuping and Vice Governor of Hainan Province Gu Gang introduced the relevant situation of the 5th China International Consumer Products Expo and answered questions from reporters.

Sheng Qiuping, Vice Minister of Commerce, introduced that consumption of services such as accommodation and catering, culture, tourism, sports and health, elderly care and childcare have become an important growth point in the consumer market. The Central Economic Work Conference and the Government Work Report made clear arrangements for expanding service consumption. The Ministry of Commerce established a cross-departmental working mechanism, improved the service consumption policy system, organized and carried out consumption promotion activities such as the "Service Consumption Season", and focused on increasing the supply of high-quality services to meet the diverse service consumption needs of the people.

From January to February this year, service consumption maintained a rapid growth trend, with service retail increasing by 4.9% year-on-year, and retail sales of tourism services and travel services achieved double-digit growth year-on-year. As a global consumer boutique display and trading platform, the Consumer Expo not only displays special products, but also high-quality, rich and convenient services. This year's Consumer Expo highlights service consumption, fully demonstrating new hot spots and new trends in service consumption such as silver economy, low-altitude economy, health and wellness, sports events, and artificial intelligence. The number of member units of the organizing committee has expanded from 13 to 19, with six new member units including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, the National Health Commission, the General Administration of Sports, and the Civil Aviation Administration to promote the integration of business, tourism, culture, sports and health.

First is to show diversified consumption scenarios. This Consumer Expo will highlight the integration of scene innovation and business formats. For example, between the main venue Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center and the branch venue Haikou International Duty Free City, driverless shuttle buses and unmanned taxis will be launched to enhance the exhibition experience of buyers and audiences; the Sanya Yacht Sub-venue will innovate to create diversified consumption scenarios such as "yacht + wedding dress" and "yacht + diving". Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone has launched full-chain international medical tourism services such as physical examinations, rehabilitation, and medical beauty, forming a linkage effect with the Consumer Expo.

The second is to hold special events. During this Consumer Expo, a series of supporting activities will be held such as the theme activities of international nutrition and health science, the new energy vehicle crowd test island competition, and the low-altitude economic conference. Hainan will also hold the 16th Hainan Island International Road Bike Race before the Consumer Expo, fully displaying the coastal scenery of Hainan Island Highway and the ecological scenery of the rainforest mountainous areas. During the Consumer Expo, Hainan food promotion activities will be held, and 100 new Qiong cuisine and 30 Hainan specialty snacks will be launched, and a "meeting on the tongue" with Chinese time-honored restaurants and British flavors will be staged.

The third is to introduce supporting policies. The Ministry of Commerce will work with the National Health Commission and other departments to issue the "Special Action Plan for Healthy Consumption" during the Consumer Expo, and will introduce a number of policy measures in areas such as healthy diet, fitness exercise, elderly care services, and new health service formats. Hainan has recently launched 13 specific measures to support the development of tourism and performing arts; issued an action plan for the development of the health care industry, giving full play to the brand advantages of Hainan's "Health Island" and "Changshou Island" and promoting the high-quality development of the health care industry.
