CCTV News: With the increasing expansion of China's "two new" policies, during this May Day holiday, the sales of "old-for-new" products are booming, and localities are innovating consumption scenarios, increasing supply efforts, and continuously stimulating new vitality in the consumer market.

Ms. Xiong, who bought the TV, introduced that the old TV at home has been used for more than ten years and has long been planning to change one. Now the old-for-new subsidy is strong, which makes her place an order decisively.


Under the "old for new" policy, the demand for high-quality home appliances of county and township residents continues to be released. In a local home appliance warehouse, the daily shipments have increased by more than 30% recently, and the shipments of smart home appliances such as large-size TVs and all-in-one washing machines have increased by 300%.


County consumption has become "hot", and urban consumption power has continued to increase. In this newly opened large shopping mall in Nanjing, 90% of the more than 200,000 products can enjoy the "old-for-new" subsidy, and the number of customers entering the store exceeded 30,000 on May Day. Driven by "trade for new + experiential shopping", the enthusiasm for offline consumption has been further enhanced.

Sales platform data shows that on the first day of the May Day holiday, the national "old trade-in" product sales increased by 61% year-on-year, and the store customer flow increased by 150% year-on-year. Zhejiang (112.05%), Beijing (95.2%) and Jiangsu (83.73%) have the fastest growth rate of new consumption, the consumer market structure has moved to the mid-to-high-end, and computers, mobile phones, and smart watches have become the hottest-selling products during the holidays.

"Old trade-in" not only stimulates consumption vitality, but also promotes the quality and upgrading of the industry.

In a mobile phone manufacturing factory in Shenzhen, automated production lines are running at full speed to catch orders. Driven by the "old for new" policy, their main models have increased by more than 50%, which not only boosted the factory's production capacity, but also forced companies to work hard to improve product performance.

The latest data from the Ministry of Commerce shows that since 2025, more than 2.81 million cars have been traded for old cars, more than 49 million units of 12-category home appliances have been traded for new products, and more than 37 million units of new products such as mobile phones have been purchased, driving sales of related consumer goods exceeding 720 billion yuan.
