As the "two-way" craze of Hong Kong, Macao and the Mainland continues, coupled with the influence of a number of favorable customs clearance policies such as "Hong Kong car north" and "Macao car north", since this year, inbound and outbound passenger flow through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has continued to grow rapidly. According to data from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Border Inspection Station of Zhuhai Border Inspection Station, as of April 27 this year, the number of inbound and outbound passengers through the Zhuhai Highway Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has exceeded 10 million, an increase of more than 18.9% year-on-year, breaking the fastest record of the number of passengers exceeding 10 million since the opening of the port, 25 days ahead of 2024.

Affected by the superposition of the dual effects of the bridge transportation hub and popular attractions, the inbound and outbound passenger flow at the Zhuhai Highway Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has shown a trend of large inbound and outbound traffic this year, especially during weekends and holidays. According to statistics from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Border Inspection Station, since this year, the daily passenger flow at the port has exceeded 100,000 or more days to 30 days, twice that of the same period in 2024. Among them, on February 1, 2025, the port's daily passenger flow reached 170,000, setting a record for the highest single-day since the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

The "going south" passenger flow has become the "main force" of growth. With the continuous expansion of the "individual travel" cities in Hong Kong and Macao and the implementation of the "one visa, multiple tours" and "one tour per week" policy for tourism in Hong Kong and Macao, the "one journey, multiple stations" Greater Bay Area tourism products built around the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge have been popular. In 2025, the number of mainland tourists traveling between the Hong Kong and Macao through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge exceeded 1.92 million, an increase of 13.7% year-on-year. At the same time, with the increase in the number of cultural and tourism events in Hong Kong and Macao, and the implementation of policies such as the "Supplementary Labor Optimization Plan" in Hong Kong, more and more mainland residents have gone to Hong Kong to have leisure entertainment, visit and exchange, and work. Since the beginning of this year, more than 4.176 million mainland tourists have been inspected by the border inspection station of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, an increase of more than 30.3% year-on-year.

The "Northbound" passenger flow also increased significantly. With the in-depth promotion of the policies of "Hong Kong car north" and "Macao car north", fast travel methods and efficient customs clearance environment have attracted more and more Hong Kong and Macao residents to drive themselves to "north". Since the beginning of this year, the total number of single-licensed vehicles entering and leaving Hong Kong and Macao through Zhuhai Highway Ports has exceeded 1.188 million, an increase of 32.4% year-on-year, and the average daily number has exceeded 10,000, an increase of about 2,500 compared with the same period last year. Driven by the single license plate of Hong Kong and Macao, the number of passengers entering and leaving Hong Kong and Macao through the bridge has continued to increase. As of April 27, the number of passengers inspected by the station has exceeded 5.785 million, an increase of 14.7% year-on-year.

The growth rate of foreign tourists is obvious. The Zhuhai Highway Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is the only port in the mainland that directly connects to Hong Kong International Airport by land. With the continuous expansion of China's visa-free "circle of friends" and the continuous increase in convenient measures for foreign personnel to come to China, the number of foreign passengers entering and leaving the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge continues to rise. Since the beginning of this year, the number of foreign passengers inspected by the border inspection station of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has exceeded 172,000, an increase of more than 70% year-on-year.

The relevant person in charge of the border inspection station of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge introduced that in order to ensure the safety and smooth customs clearance of inbound and outbound personnel, the station has upgraded and transformed the "one-stop" system to promote the construction of "cargo and passenger" channels and improve traffic efficiency; continue to deepen the law enforcement liaison and coordination mechanism of the ports in Zhuhai-Hong Kong-Macao, and realize early warning and guidance of passenger flow during holidays; in response to the increase in the number of elderly people and children on the vehicle, the mobile inspection model is innovatively used to improve the port customs clearance experience.
