CCTV News: The May Day holiday flight plan released by the Civil Aviation Administration of China on the morning of April 27 showed that during the May Day holiday, the civil aviation passenger transport volume was about 10.75 million, with an average daily passenger volume of 2.15 million, an increase of 8% year-on-year compared with 2024, setting a record high in the same period. Let’s see the specific report.
This year's May Day holiday, domestic passenger sources will be mainly concentrated in the backbone routes between the four major urban agglomerations of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao and Chengdu-Chongqing. Up to now, the number of passengers bookings for routes between Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and between Beijing, Shenzhen and Chengdu is the highest. In addition, the number of bookings for branch routes to tourist destinations such as Xishuangbanna, Lhasa, Lijiang, Kashgar, and Hotan is also relatively concentrated.

Shang Kejia, deputy director of the Transportation Department of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, said that during the May Day holiday, the national civil aviation has arranged a total of 88,000 regular flights, an increase of 2.3% year-on-year; the 173-time overtime plan was approved, an increase of 8% year-on-year. Overtime mainly involves 35 cities including Lijiang, Zhuhai, Dunhuang, Ganzhou, and Sanya. In addition, the Civil Aviation Administration also urges airlines to increase flights, replace large aircraft models in a timely manner, and increase the supply of capacity for popular routes.

In terms of international routes, it is expected that both passenger transport and flight volume will reach the highest peak this year during the May Day holiday. Travel destinations are mainly concentrated in traditional tourism markets such as Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia. As the convenience policies for entry and transit visas continue to be optimized, service measures such as "buy and refund" for departure tax refunds are gradually promoted, the number of incoming foreign passengers will continue to increase, which will drive foreign airlines to further increase flights.
