CCTV News: In April 2023, September 2024 and January 2025, the Chinese Embassy in Peru issued an announcement and a series of animation videos to remind Chinese citizens in Mission to pay attention to prevent telecommunications fraud. Recently, the embassy once again received reports from many overseas Chinese that criminals pretended to be staff members of the "Chinese Embassy in Peru" (the call number may be disguised as our library number through technical means, such as 01-4228251), and lied that the parties involved had important documents to come to our library to sign for.
In response to the above situation, the Chinese Embassy in Peru once again solemnly reminds the majority of overseas Chinese in Peru to be vigilant and strengthen prevention:
1. If you have not handled business in the embassy recently, the embassy will not notify you to come to the embassy to receive any documents. If you have done business in the embassy recently and cannot tell the authenticity of the call, you can confirm it through the embassy email (consulate_per@mfa.gov.cn) or the consular protection phone number (+51-995203968).
2. The embassy will not send any notifications through the recording phone, nor will it require the receiver to follow the phone voice prompts or call back to contact further.
3. Embassy staff will not ask the applicant to remit the fees to the designated account or transfer money online on the phone, and will not notify the applicant by phone that the case may be involved, being denied entry or being arrested by the public security organs.
4. Please do not trust any phone number or email involving personal financial information, requesting transfer or remittance, and keep the bottom line of not transferring money, not paying money, or not revealing personal information.
5. If you are unfortunately cheated, please keep the evidence properly and report the case to the local police and domestic public security organs immediately, and contact the bank to ask them to take corresponding stop-loss measures such as stop payment and freezing to recover economic losses as much as possible. If you cannot report the case directly to the domestic public security organs, you can also report the case in a timely manner through your close relatives in China and request help from the anti-telecom network fraud center where the domestic report is reported.
6. It is recommended to download the National Anti-Fraud Center APP to learn anti-fraud knowledge and improve prevention awareness.
Please remind each other to avoid being deceived.
