On April 23, 2025, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Bailamov signed the "Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on mutual exemption of visas for citizens holding ordinary passports" on behalf of the two governments. The agreement will officially come into effect after the two governments fulfill the necessary procedures.
