Today (November 3), the 2024 Beijing Marathon and National Marathon Championship (the third stop) started with a gunshot in Tiananmen Square. The competition attracted a total of 30,000 runners. Among them, Chinese player Chen Tianyu performed well and won the third place in the 2024 Beijing Marathon men's team.
At 7:30 in the morning, after the starting gun sounded, 30,000 runners started from the east side of Tiananmen Square at the same time, passing through West Chang'an Street, Xidan Shopping Mall, National Culture Palace, Military Museum, China Millennium Monument, etc. Beijing's landmark buildings finally arrived at the end of the competition - the landscape boulevard in the central area of the Olympic Park.
After more than 2 hours of fierce competition, in the men’s group:
Ethiopia’s Lemi Berhanu Hayle won 2 hours, 9 minutes and 16 minutes. Winning the championship in seconds;
Bethwel Kibet from Kenya Chumba (Betwill Kibet Chumba) won the runner-up with a time of 2 hours, 9 minutes and 30 seconds;
Chinese player Chen Tianyu won the third place with a time of 2 hours, 9 minutes and 48 seconds.
In the women’s category:
Vicoty Chepngeno from Kenya won the championship in 2 hours, 21 minutes and 56 seconds;
Ethiopia’s Rahma Tusa won the championship in 2 hours, 24 seconds He won the second place with a time of 2 hours, 25 minutes and 41 seconds.
Kenya’s Angela Jemesunde Tanui won the third place with a time of 2 hours, 25 minutes and 41 seconds.
The Beijing Marathon was first held in 1981 and has been successfully held for 42 times. With the continuous development over the years, the event has not only become a competitive palace for top marathon athletes, but also attracted more and more citizens to participate.
This year, the number of applicants for the Beijing Marathon hit a record high. During the three-day registration period from October 2 to 5, a total of 43 countries and regions were attracted. 182,949 long-distance running enthusiasts from the region signed up to participate.
