In terms of production safety, the national production safety work in the first quarter mainly showed the characteristics of "three declines and two stability", namely, the total number of accidents decreased, major accidents decreased, and major accidents decreased. According to reports, in the first quarter, a total of 3,415 production safety accidents of various types occurred nationwide and 3,208 deaths, a year-on-year decrease of 29.5% and 24.4% respectively.
Shen Zhanli, spokesperson of the Ministry of Emergency Management and director of the Department of News and Publicity, said that the safety production situation in most areas is stable, and among the 32 provincial statistical units, 28 accidents and deaths "double decline". In terms of natural disasters, natural disasters in my country were mainly earthquakes and geological disasters in the first quarter, and wind and hail, forest fires, low temperature freezing and snow disasters, droughts, floods, etc. also occurred to varying degrees. Various natural disasters caused a total of 1.204 million people to be affected to varying degrees, 160 people died and disappeared, 149,000 people were urgently relocated and resettled, and direct economic losses of 10.16 billion yuan.
The main characteristics of natural disasters in the first quarter are: the level of earthquake activity has been enhanced compared with the same period in previous years, the losses of geological disasters are severe, and geological disasters occur frequently in Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou and other places. The situation of forest and grassland fire prevention and control is grim, and forest fire hazards are generally "two equal importance to the north and south". Wind and hail disasters in the southern region have been circulating at many points, and strong winds and hail have caused some houses and crops to be affected. The overall temperature in the country is higher than the same period last year, and the low-temperature freezing and snow disasters are generally lighter.
