Xinhuanet, Beijing, March 29th Title: People's happy life is the greatest human rights

Xinhuanet reporter Li Jieqiong

In recent years, the "Tibet human rights issue" has been repeatedly hyped by some Western countries, becoming a "hot spot" issue for them to slander and attack the Chinese government and the Chinese people.

On the 28th, the State Council Information Office released the white paper "Development and Progress of Tibet's Human Rights Cause in the New Era", which comprehensively presented the development and progress of Tibet's human rights cause, and used history and facts to strongly refute those slander and slander out of nothing.

Regarding human rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights says: "Everyone is born free and equal in terms of dignity and rights" and "no one shall be slave or enslaved."

The old Tibet before the peaceful liberation in 1951 was one of the most serious human rights violations in the world. The lives of the vast majority of serfs and slaves are not guaranteed, and there is no right to be a human being without personal freedom, property freedom and freedom of thought. Serf owners can buy, sell, transfer, gift, and exchange serfs and slaves at will, or they can torture them such as gouging their eyes, cutting their tongues, cutting their hands, and chopping their feet. The life and death, marriage, migration of serfs and slaves were controlled by serf owners, and they suffered heavy taxes, labor and usury exploitation. They worked hard for many years in adulthood, but even food and clothing were not guaranteed.

From the peaceful liberation of Tibet as the starting point, the Communist Party of China has united and led the people of all ethnic groups in Tibet to make unremitting efforts to fight for human rights, respect human rights, safeguard human rights, and develop human rights. The Tibetan people's right to survival, development and other basic rights protection are constantly moving forward. Especially since the new era, Tibet's human rights cause has made all-round progress and historic achievements. Data from the Seventh National Census show that the number of people with university education per 100,000 people in Tibet has increased from 5,507 in 2010 to 11,019 in 2020; the average life expectancy in Tibet has increased from 68.17 in 2010 to 72.19 in 2020... The Tibetan people's right to appropriate living standards, right to education, right to work, right to health, and right to social security are more fully guaranteed.

The people’s happy life is the greatest human right, and development is the key to realizing people’s happiness. Comparing before and after the peaceful liberation of Tibet, those so-called "the deterioration of the human rights situation in Tibet" are self-defeating.

The "Human Rights Issues in Tibet" has never been a human rights issue. Some anti-China forces in Western countries, under the banner of "human rights defenders", did not mention the situation of old Tibet trampling on the basic human rights of the people, but slandered the development and progress of the new Tibet in every way.

Repeating lies a thousand times is still a lie. Tibet's achievements in human rights protection will not be erased because of lies; the firm steps of the people of all ethnic groups in Tibet on the road to protecting human rights in the new era will not be hesitant because of lies; the determination and measures of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government to ensure that the people of all ethnic groups in Tibet fully enjoy human rights will not be shaken by any force.

This is the trend of the times and the value of civilization.
