CCTV News: As China's aging deepens and the demand for medical treatment for the elderly increases, accompanying services have entered a stage of rapid standardization. Shanghai has issued a pilot plan for medical assistance and accompanying medical services, and recently launched the 2025 accompanying clinic training, with a plan to train 1,100 accompanying clinics. Industry insiders pointed out that with the increase in service demand, the accompanying service industry will pay more attention to the professional training of accompanying staff to ensure that accompanying staff can provide high-quality services.

The registered elderly population in Shanghai has exceeded 5.68 million, of which more than 300,000 are elderly people living alone. In this accompanying training class, professional medical staff were explaining in detail the details that need to be paid attention to when pushing the elderly’s wheelchairs, and taught them one by one. As a necessary skill for accompanying clinicians, special service guidance on gastroenteroscopy and postoperative rehabilitation have been provided.

This accompanying clinician training was jointly organized by the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau and Shanghai Open University, and the Shanghai Elderly Care Services and Aging Industry Association organized the assessment. The training targets mainly come from community elderly care service centers, nursing homes, home care institutions and other units, and no training is carried out for social personnel. After the registration work started, there was a hot situation in all districts that "one person is hard to find".

It is understood that in addition to mastering the medical treatment process, a qualified accompanying clinician must also learn psychology, legal ethics, communication skills, first aid knowledge, etc. After passing the assessment, students obtain the "Shanghai Elderly Care Service Certificate" and can receive orders online or offline on the corresponding pilot platforms in each district. In order to ensure the long-term development of this team, Shanghai Open University also launched the "Eldership Service Talent Management Platform" simultaneously on March 24.

It is understood that the accompanying medical service industry is gradually developing towards professionalization, standardization and intelligence. In March this year, Chengdu, Sichuan launched the "Association Service Talent Cultivation Alliance Cooperation Framework Agreement" and issued the first batch of special professional competence certificates for accompanying medical services to 27 workers; Hunan will promote the formulation of "medical and accompanying medical services standard group standards", and provide clear operating guidelines and specification requirements for accompanying medical practitioners and medical service organizations through industry standards.

Industry insiders said that with the acceleration of population aging, the domestic demand for elderly care services is broad, and the market size of China's silver hair industry continues to expand. At present, the accompanying medical service industry is in its development stage. As service demand increases, the accompanying service industry will pay more attention to the professional training of accompanying staff to ensure that accompanying staff can provide high-quality services.
