CCTV News: In recent years, with the vigorous development of emerging industries and future industries, the professional catalog of universities in my country has also been constantly updated. In Henan, a major education province, 122 new majors were added last year alone. What are the new majors and where are they new? Let’s see the reporter’s investigation.

Not only is the steering wheel that can automatically monitor human health and prevent accidents, at the School of Flexible Electronics of Henan University, the reporter also saw intelligent equipment to assist in limb work and completely transparent photovoltaic power glass. The teachers and students told reporters that they all use flexible electronic technology, which is also the focus of the college's research. According to Zhao Gaofeng, executive dean of the School of Flexible Electronics of Henan University, flexible electronic technology pursues "hardness and softness", and electronic devices have four major characteristics: light, thin, soft and transparent, and are stretchable, ductile, and processable.

Zhao Gaofeng introduced that today, flexible electronic devices have been used in various fields such as display, sensing, aerospace and humanoid robots. It is precisely because of the broad prospects of related industries that last year, Henan University newly established the School of Flexible Electronics, and the first batch of students recruited were graduate students from different disciplines. "High professional cross-fusion is a distinctive label for flexible electronics. The goal of this major is to cultivate high-end composite talents and promote the development of emerging industries such as advanced manufacturing, new materials, artificial intelligence, and life and health." Zhao Gaofeng said.

Chen Jie, selected from Zhengzhou University, studied electronic information engineering major in undergraduate studies. Her grades have always been among the best. When she learned that the School of Flexible Electronics of Henan University was recruiting graduate students, she immediately signed up for the exam.

Not only were the students full of keen interest in the new major, a group of high-level talents also joined in and became the tutors of the college. Huang Wei, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, became the chief scientist of the college.
Layout the future and continue to optimize educational resources
At present, Henan has 174 universities. In recent years, they have worked a lot in the setting of disciplines and have added some new vocational and new schools to meet industrial needs. Just between "addition and subtraction", educational resources are continuously optimized.

In the Henan Provincial Department of Education, the reporter saw this "Henan Province urgently needed special and emerging future undergraduate majors in 2024". The table marked the urgently needed scarce areas and counterpart majors, and cutting-edge fields such as electronic information, intelligent manufacturing, advanced equipment, and new materials have become "high-frequency words".

Zhu Zifeng, deputy director of the Henan Provincial Department of Education, said that everyone believes that Henan grows grain, wheat and corn, but now Henan is not only a traditional agricultural province, but also an emerging industrial, manufacturing and economic province, and needs more support for disciplines and majors, especially talent training.

Zhu Zifeng admitted that as a "national granary", Henan has been thinking about improving the intelligence and digital level of agricultural production in recent years. Focusing on national development strategies such as the rise of the central region, ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, universities such as North China University of Hydropower and Hydropower have added more than 20 related majors such as intelligent construction and intelligent vehicle engineering. Henan University of Science and Technology and other universities have added majors such as big data management and application, data science and big data technology. The School of Cyberspace Security of Zhengzhou University also opened an experimental class for top talents with bachelor's and master's degree.
Satisfies employment needs and the front-line production line becomes a classroom
Professionals follow the needs. In recent years, facing industrial development, Henan has also built internships, employment and entrepreneurship platforms for students through school-enterprise cooperation and other means. What is the actual effect of doing this? Continue to watch the report.

Not long ago, the Yellow River Water Conservancy Vocational and Technical College was approved by the Ministry of Education to rename it the Yellow River Water Conservancy Vocational and Technical University and upgrade it from a junior college to a undergraduate. When the reporter came to campus, teachers and students were teaching in simulation scenarios such as dams and rivers.

In Zhoukou Port, the reporter met a group of junior students who were internship. The team teacher told reporters that students can directly participate in the construction of engineering projects, and outstanding students can find employment directly after graduation. During the interview, the reporter learned that in recent years, the country has continued to improve the construction of infrastructure such as ports and inland water networks, and urgently needs professional talents in shipping logistics management, waterway design and maintenance.

Attacking the strong demand for talents, the Yellow River Water Conservancy Vocational and Technical University has established 11 majors, including surveying and mapping engineering technology, intelligent manufacturing equipment technology, river management and waterway engineering technology, and has established internship bases in ports such as Tianjin Port and Qingdao Port. During their stay in school, students have gained many practical opportunities, and the employment rate has remained above 96% in recent years.

At present, Henan has 1.4465 million vocational school students, and many companies have also opened order classes in vocational colleges to customize the training of talents in special positions. Ji Wujun, dean of the School of Automobile and Transportation of Henan Vocational and Technical College, said that the school and enterprises have been deeply integrated to jointly create a training classroom, realizing that it is time to enter the school and to find employment after graduation.
