CCTV News: Starting from March 25, many places in northern Xinjiang have ushered in the strongest snowfall and cooling weather this spring. Agricultural departments in various places have quickly launched a bad weather response to the cold wave.

On the morning of the 25th, Jimusar County, Xinjiang issued a blue warning for cold waves, and the temperature dropped to below minus 10 degrees Celsius at night. At the tomato seedling greenhouse base in Ergong Town, local farmers deal with the snow in a timely manner and do a good job in keeping warm.

Wang Miaolin, a resident of Ergong Town, Jimusar County, said that they are burning methanol furnaces now, with the temperature between 10 and 18 degrees Celsius. When the temperature is as low as 10 degrees Celsius, it will burn automatically. When the temperature is burned to 18 degrees Celsius, it will stop by itself and set the temperature. The seedlings are growing ok now, already three centimeters and have not been affected.

Colding and snowfall have also had a significant impact on local spring animal husbandry production. Now is the critical period for spring lamb conservation. Animal husbandry technicians go deep into the warm circles of herders and farmers to help check the health of lambs, and guide farmers to do a good job in preventing cold and warmth, winter lamb production, epidemic prevention and control.

In Balikun County, Hami City, the cold wave weather caused the local temperature to drop to nearly minus 20 degrees Celsius. Local greenhouse vegetable growers should turn on the heating equipment in advance and thicken the greenhouse insulation quilt to ensure the temperature in the greenhouse. Relevant management personnel said that there are about 10 kinds of vegetables grown in greenhouses, including cabbage, chrysanthemum, cilantro, and coriander, and they are growing very well now. When the temperature is needed, the staff will put down the curtain in advance to ensure that the temperature in the shed is between 12 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius.

According to the latest forecast of the Xinjiang Meteorological Observatory, the cold wave snowfall and cooling weather affecting northern Xinjiang will gradually weaken on the 27th. After the cold wave weather, the temperature will gradually rise to normal levels.

Xinjiang Hejing: National Highway 218 Tianshan Mountain Area encountered wind and snow weather

At noon on March 25, the Tianshan Mountain Area section of National Highway 218 Xinjiang Hejing County encountered heavy snowfall and caused wind and snow weather. The strong wind of level 10 is wrapped with heavy snow, the visibility of the road surface drops to less than 50 meters, and the snow quickly accumulates to more than 40 cm.

The Hejing County Traffic Police Brigade immediately implemented traffic control on wind-blown and snow sections. As of 6 pm on the 23rd, more than 100 stranded vehicles were left. The traffic police department acted quickly, delivering essential items such as instant noodles, hot water, etc. to the driver and passengers in the car, and guided the vehicle back to the rest area to wait for the weather to improve. Up to now, wind and snow are still continuing, and traffic control measures are still maintained on this section of the road.
