CCTV News: A reporter learned from Sinopec on March 25 that the proven reserves of the Jinan Petroleum and Chemical Corporation's Shengli Oilfield Jiyang Shale Oilfield have officially passed the review and filing of the Ministry of Natural Resources, marking the release of my country's first 100 million tons shale oilfield.
Xinxing Oilfield is located in the Shengli Jiyang Shale Oil National Demonstration Zone. The shale strata that passed the review and filing this time has proven geological reserves of more than 140 million tons, and the technically recoverable reserves are 11.3599 million tons. This oil field is a typical shale oil field in a continental fault basin. It has the characteristics of new age, low maturity, and complex faults. It is extremely difficult to explore and develop, which is a world-class problem.
The estimated resource of Jiyang shale in Shengli Oilfield reached 10.5 billion tons, which is equivalent to the implemented conventional oil and gas resources. In 2024, the Shengli Jiyang Shale Oil National Demonstration Zone produced 500,000 tons of oil, and the cumulative oil production exceeded 1 million tons.
The birth of the first 100 million tons shale oil field marks a historic leap in my country's continental shale oil field to increase its scale, and will inject strong impetus into ensuring my country's energy security and promoting high-quality development of the industry.
