The Third Session of the 14th National People's Congress held a press conference on the afternoon of the 9th. The heads of four departments of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and the National Health Commission answered questions from Chinese and foreign reporters on related issues.
Ni Hong, Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, said that three things should be focused on. First, all old urban communities built before 2000 should be included in the scope of urban renewal and renovation, and renovation should be implemented according to local conditions. Local governments are also encouraged to explore residents' independent renewal and renovation of old residential buildings.
The second is the renovation of urban villages. The scope has now been expanded to cities at the prefecture level and above across the country. The scale of renovation must continue to be expanded based on the addition of 1 million new units last year.
The third is to vigorously promote the construction of a complete community, focusing on "one elderly and one young", improving barrier-free and elderly-friendly supporting facilities, government childcare service facilities, and children's activity venues.
