Yang Changqin, the representative inheritor of intangible cultural heritage bamboo weaving in Chishui, Guizhou, incorporates traditional bamboo weaving into modern aesthetics, and uses diverse models such as "intangible cultural heritage + cultural creation" and "intangible cultural heritage + research and study" to encourage villagers to use ancient craftsmanship bamboo weaving to open a new path to rural revitalization. Yang Changqin, a member of the National People's Congress and a villager from Datong Minzu Village, Chishui City, Guizhou, said:
I am Yang Changqin, the sixth-generation representative inheritor of our Chishui Bamboo Weaving Intangible Cultural Heritage. I entered this industry in 2007. Chishui has 1.328 million mu of bamboo forests with high yields. This unique resource endowment is very suitable for our inheritance and development of bamboo weaving. I think if intangible cultural heritage bamboo weaving is to develop and inherit it, it must keep pace with the times and integrate our traditional crafts into the aesthetics of life in each era.
The most important thing in our studio is bamboo weaving furniture and our bamboo weaving lighting, because it is designed based on the aesthetics of modern people's life. Combined with our bamboo weaving skills, each lighting is weaving differently and has different styles.
One-third of our team are "post-90s" and "post-00s". The combination of the old, middle-aged and young people, the elderly have superb skills and the young people have very active ideas. The number of employees has grown from the initial four to more than 100 now, and has connected 177 households and 570 people in our ethnic village, solving the problem of many women finding employment nearby at their doorstep.
The series of bamboo we developed now sell tens of thousands of them a year. At the same time, combined with tourism and research, I plan to make bamboo weaving into a real cultural characteristic industry.
This identity of a deputy in the National People's Congress gave me supreme honor, but at the same time it also gave me more responsibilities. At our grassroots level, if you want to be rich, you will first build the Luzun High-speed Railway and Yuchixu Expressway as soon as possible, so that our industries, our talents and other aspects can come in, so that more young people are willing to return to their hometowns and develop industries together.
