CCTV News: China Mechanical and E-commerce Association stated that on March 8, the Ministry of Commerce of China issued an announcement (No. 11 of 2025), which made a ruling on the first anti-discrimination investigation initiated by Canada's relevant restrictive measures against China. The investigative agency determined that the relevant measures investigated in Canada constituted Article 7 of the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China "discriminatory prohibitions, restrictions or other similar measures taken against China in terms of trade". The relevant measures have affected the normal trade order and have a serious negative impact on China, and will take anti-discrimination measures against Canada. Since the filing of the case, the China Chamber of Commerce for Mechanical and Electrical Products has paid close attention to the progress of the investigation, firmly supported the fair rulings made by the Ministry of Commerce of China in accordance with the law and regulations, took necessary measures to maintain international economic and trade order, and resolutely defend the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
Since August last year, Canada has ignored reminders and dissuasions from all parties and insisted on adopting discriminatory unilateral restrictive measures on related products imported from China, seriously hindering the normal economic and trade cooperation between China and Canada, damaging the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese industry enterprises, undermining international economic and trade rules and order, and having a negative impact on the security and stability of global trade and economic development.
The China Chamber of Mechanical and Electrical Products Import and Export of the China Chamber of Commerce hopes that the Canadian side will immediately stop its wrong practices, maintain the independence of trade policies, provide a pragmatic, fair, non-discriminatory and predictable environment for enterprises from both countries to carry out normal trade and cooperation, and work together to promote the sustainable development of global industries.
