People's Daily, Beijing (Reporter Gu Yekai) The latest data released by the State Intellectual Property Office shows that my country has become the first country in the world with the number of domestic valid invention patents exceeding 5 million, and the number of PCT international patent applications has ranked first in the world for 6 consecutive years; among the top 5,000 brands in the world, my country's brand value has reached 1.81 trillion U.S. dollars, ranking second in the world; the direct output value of geographical indication products is close to 970 billion yuan.

As of the end of June this year, my country's number of high-value invention patents per 10,000 people reached 15.3, exceeding the expected goals set by the "14th Five-Year Plan"; the number of effective invention patents in my country's strategic emerging industries exceeded 1.4 million, maintaining rapid growth; in key areas such as artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, integrated circuits, biomedicine, and new energy, the reserve of high-value patents continues to increase, accelerating the transformation from "quantitative accumulation" to "quality improvement", laying a solid foundation for achieving high-level technological independence and self-reliance.

The contribution of my country’s efficient use of intellectual property to the economy continues to increase. The added value of patent-intensive industries accounts for more than 13% of GDP, and the added value of copyright industries accounts for nearly 7.5% of GDP.

In the "Global Innovation Index Report 2025" released by the World Intellectual Property Organization, my country's ranking rose to tenth, ranking among the top ten in the world for the first time. It has 24 of the world's top 100 innovation clusters, ranking first in the world for three consecutive years.
