On April 3, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce answered reporters' questions about the implementation of semiconductor export control measures in Japan.
A reporter asked: On April 3, 2025, the Japanese government announced the implementation of export controls on more than ten semiconductor-related items. What is China’s comment on this?
A: China has noticed the relevant situation. The semiconductor industry is a highly globalized field. For some time, some countries have generalized national security concepts, abused export control measures, imposed sanctions and suppressed China's semiconductor and other industries, seriously threatening the stability of the global semiconductor industry chain and supply chain. China firmly opposes this.
China and Japan have strong industrial complementarity in the semiconductor field and have formed a good situation of close integration. The relevant export control measures of Japan will seriously interfere with normal business exchanges between enterprises and harm the interests of enterprises from both countries. We hope that Japan will maintain rational decision-making, correct wrong practices in a timely manner, effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises from all countries, including Chinese and Japanese enterprises, and maintain the stability of the global semiconductor industry chain and supply chain. China will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
