Today (16th), the third phase of Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport, covering an area of ​​17,117 mu and a total investment of 33.438 billion yuan, was completed and put into operation. The newly built T3 terminal will be officially opened at 0:00 on March 20. At that time, all domestic, international, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan flights at Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport will be transferred to the T3 terminal for operation, and the original T1 and T2 terminals will be suspended.

The third phase of Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport is a key hub airport expansion project of the national "Three-Year Action Plan for Major Transportation Infrastructure Construction", "The 13th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Civil Aviation in China" and "Gansu Province's "13th Five-Year Plan for Comprehensive Transportation Development Plan". It is expected that passenger throughput will reach 38 million, cargo and mail throughput will reach 300,000 tons, and aircraft takeoffs and landings will reach 300,000 times. The main construction contents include the construction of two new runways, a T3 terminal of 400,000 square meters and a comprehensive transportation center of 270,000 square meters, as well as supporting air traffic control, aviation fuel and production and living assistance facilities. The completion and commissioning of the third phase of Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport will inject new strong impetus into Gansu Province's deep integration into the high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road", expand high-level opening up, and promote high-quality economic development.

After the project is completed, Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport will become the second airport in Northwest Civil Aviation with multiple runways, meeting the 4F backup landing standards, and having 3 precision approach runways. The airport's operation guarantee capacity and efficiency will be significantly improved.

The newly built T3 terminal has found a perfect balance between functional practicality and passenger travel convenience. Adopting the unique structure of "main building + four-finger corridor", the building plane presents an "X"-shaped layout. This design not only greatly shortens the aircraft's taxiing path on the apron to 1.2 kilometers, but also reduces 30% compared with similar airports, significantly improving operational efficiency; at the same time, it ensures an 85% ratio of close-range flights, keeping the passenger's walking distance within 450 meters, greatly improving the travel experience.

The domestic waiting area adopts a mixed flow design, optimizes the transit process and improves the efficiency of domestic transit for passengers. The domestic arrival and welcome floors are located on the same plane, directly connecting to the ground transportation transfer center. The transfer center integrates various modes of transportation such as roads, railways, and aviation, and introduces national railways and intercity subways (reserved) into the underground to connect with railway stations to achieve zero-distance transfer for passengers and facilitate passengers' travel.
