Currently, my country's Beidou product foundation continues to be consolidated, application fields are acceleratingly expanded, and the industrial ecology is becoming increasingly perfect. "Beidou+" integrated innovation is accelerating to empower thousands of industries and become an important engine for promoting economic and social development.

This reporter learned this at the Second China Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information Conference held in Deqing, Zhejiang on November 6. Li Weisen, president of the China Geographic Information Industry Association, said when releasing the "China Geographic Information Industry Development Report (2025)" that as Beidou accelerates its integration with big data, artificial intelligence, industrial Internet, Internet of Things, etc., "Beidou+" breaks through the depth of industry applications and is widely integrated into transportation, communications, energy, meteorology and other fields, empowering the digital transformation and intelligent upgrading of traditional industries, and becoming an important engine to promote economic and social development.

The Beidou system and my country's geographic information industry support each other and are deeply integrated. The Beidou system provides high-precision spatio-temporal benchmarks for the geographic information industry, and the geographic information industry promotes the widespread application and industrialization of Beidou technology. The report shows that in 2024, the total output value of my country's geographical information industry will exceed 850 billion yuan, with more than 240,000 employment units and nearly 4 million employees. The industry growth rate will reach 4.8%, with a compound growth rate of 5.6% in the past five years and a compound growth rate of 11.0% in the past 10 years.

The report shows that the cumulative shipments of domestic Beidou-compatible chips and modules exceed 500 million pieces, the total number of terminal products with Beidou positioning function in society exceeds 1.5 billion units/set (including smartphones), and the number of Beidou terminal equipment applications involving key industries of the national economy and people's livelihood exceeds 28 million units/set. Among them, domestic smartphone shipments in 2024 will be 286 million units, and more than 98% support Beidou positioning. Beidou has become a standard configuration of mass consumer products.

Levison said that while Beidou has become a standard configuration of domestic mass consumer products, Beidou is steadily moving towards the world. As a core supplier of global satellite navigation systems recognized by the United Nations, Beidou has continued to expand its international "circle of friends" through the signing of multiple cooperation agreements between China and Russia, China and Pakistan, China and Afghanistan, China and Saudi Arabia, and China and Belarus. Its products are exported to more than 140 countries and regions, and have fully entered the standard systems of 13 international organizations such as civil aviation, maritime affairs, and mobile communications.
