The explosion occurred in Shinkong Mitsukoshi Shopping Mall in Taichung on February 13, killing 5 people and injuring 38 people.
After more than 40 days of investigation, the Taichung Municipal Government announced the investigation results on March 28. After 13 investigations by the investigation team, they inquired about nearly 100 relevant personnel and searched for a number of key evidence, and finally determined that the main cause of the accident was natural gas leakage.
