The Lantern Festival originated from the ancient custom of opening lanterns and praying for blessings among the people. On this day, people will enjoy lanterns, eat lanterns, guess riddles, set off fireworks, and make a fuss. In the past two days, many places have held celebrations with their own characteristics to welcome the Lantern Festival and celebrate reunion.
From the thirteenth day of the first lunar month, the "Bonbanlong" of Ningde, Fujian kicked off the Lantern Festival. At around 6 o'clock in the evening, amid the sound of gongs and drums, firecrackers, and cheers from everyone in Wanyao Village, a hundred-meter-long dragon winds along the village road. Among them, "Tuanlong" is the finale of the Bowl Dragon. The dragon's body is coiled into a spiral shape, and the head and tail echoes, which means a perfect reunion.
"Bench Dragon" is widely present in annual grand events in various provinces and cities in southern my country. It has been passed down for centuries as a Lantern Festival custom. In the old Pingyao Street in Yuhang, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, the "bench dragon" that is more than 150 meters long dances here. In the lively atmosphere of gongs and drums, tourists cheer with the dragon tour team and feel the charm of traditional intangible cultural heritage.
The Linghu Ancient Town in Huzhou, Zhejiang has the reputation of "the hometown of riddles". As night falls, the lights are on, and the riddles hanging under more than a thousand lanterns sway in the wind. Local residents stop and ponder, and wanderers outside guess the riddles through the "cloud connection". The content of lantern riddles covers intangible cultural heritage, traditional culture, local characteristics, etc., which not only continues the ancient custom of "shop riddles and national betting", but also integrates the theme of the times and combines education with entertainment.
The Gelao Maolong Festival is a traditional festival of the Gelao people in Shiqian County, Guizhou. 68 Gelao Maolong teams and 10 intangible cultural heritage exhibition teams gathered together to celebrate the Lantern Festival through parade performances. The two "Dog Dragon" teams composed of children were particularly eye-catching. Under the guidance of "Dragon Treasure", the dragon body began to swing, and the wonderful performance made the audience cute.
In Xinlun Village, Dongyuan County, Guangdong, a "Dragon Chasing" event was grandly held before the Lantern Festival. Fireworks bloomed and firecrackers were ringing. Tens of thousands of villagers and tourists held torches and wandered around the countryside with the dancing 100-meter golden dragon. From a distance, it looked like a thousand-meter fire dragon winding around the countryside. The scene was very spectacular.
