On Thursday, 31 October, the English Department of Hong Kong SYC&IA Chan Nam Chong Memorial College transformed Room G04 into a lively Haunted House for a special Halloween activity. Running from 13:30 to 14:00, the event featured four creative booths designed to engage students in fun language-based games while celebrating the spooky season.
At Booth 1: Tongue Twisters, students picked cards at random and challenged themselves to read tricky phrases aloud. Booth 2: Word Search Game invited participants to find hidden words in an enlarged puzzle grid. Booth 3: Memory and Spelling Game tested students’ recall skills, earning higher-quality candy for tougher words. Finally, Booth 4: Halloween Trivia quizzed students on basic Halloween facts, sparking both laughter and learning.
The atmosphere was festive and full of surprises. Teachers joined in the fun by dressing up in Demon Slayer anime costumes, while students donned their own Halloween outfits, playfully scaring classmates and adding to the haunted house theme. Throughout the event, lots of candy and prizes were given out, ensuring that every participant left with a smile.
The activity was a resounding success, blending language learning with seasonal celebration. Students not only enjoyed themselves but also strengthened their confidence and teamwork through the games. The English Department's Haunted House proved that education can be both engaging and entertaining, leaving behind fond memories of a Halloween afternoon filled with laughter, costumes, and community spirit.
