CCTV News: According to the official account of "China Water Conservancy", from May 7 to 13, most of Hebei, Hubei and Guangxi provinces and regions suffered 30 to 40 mm of rain, and the drought was greatly alleviated; 10 to 20 mm of rain fell in southern Shanxi, southwestern Henan, and southern Shaanxi, and the drought was relieved; there was no effective rainfall in northwestern Henan, southern and northeastern Sichuan, northern Yunnan, and northern Shaanxi, and the drought continued. Affected by the continued low rainfall and the upstream incoming water, drought conditions in Wuwei, Baiyin, Dingxi, Pingliang, Qingyang, Lanzhou, Gannan and other places in Gansu Province have developed.

On May 15, the Ministry of Water Resources held a meeting to analyze and judge the flood and drought situation, and issued a notice to make arrangements for the work of anti-drought prevention and irrigation protection in Gansu Province; maintain a Level IV emergency response to the three provinces of Shanxi, Shaanxi and Yunnan, and dispatch key water projects such as Liujiaxia, Wanjiazhai, and Xiaolangdi in the Yellow River Basin to replenish 1.05 billion cubic meters of water since May to ensure the drought resistance and water demand in the Yellow River provinces and regions; dispatch the Three Gorges Reservoir in the Yangtze River Basin to increase the average daily outflow flow, creating conditions for water withdrawal in the riverside areas of Hubei. On May 13, the Gansu Provincial Water Resources Department launched a Level IV emergency response to the five cities of Wuwei, Baiyin, Dingxi, Pingliang and Qingyang, guiding arid areas to strengthen irrigation management, scientifically arrange irrigation water wheels, tap the potential of water lifting and water diversion projects in the irrigation area, and ensure agricultural irrigation water use; organize investigations on the safety risks of drinking water for the people, and implement emergency guarantee measures in advance.

It is expected that in the next 10 days, most of Guangxi, southern Sichuan and central Yunnan will have 40 to 80 mm of rainfall, and in western Henan, western Hubei, northeastern Sichuan and northwestern Yunnan will have 10 to 30 mm of rainfall, which is beneficial to alleviating drought; in northern Hebei and most of the three provinces of Shanxi, Shaanxi and Gansu, there will be basically no effective rainfall, and drought will continue or develop. The Ministry of Water Resources will guide the drought-affected provinces and regions to continue to keep a close eye on the drought situation, accurately range, precise target, precise time period and precise measures, and make every effort to ensure the safety of urban and rural water supply and water for crop irrigation.
